Early Years
I was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida where I attended the local public schools. At sixteen, I enrolled at the St. Petersburg Junior College and a year later transferred to Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics in 1977.
Professional Experience
I have over twenty-eight years of business and management experience. I worked for my first start-up company at the age of nineteen while still an undergraduate. At twenty-nine, I co-founded Appex, Inc. which developed a Management Information System for cellular phone carriers as well as a fraud prevention system. After Appex was acquired by Electronic Data Systems, I co-founded Lightbridge, Inc. which automated the process of qualifying new cellular customers. Lightbridge went public in 1996. By enabling our clients to offer better customer service while saving millions of dollars, these businesses created hundreds of well-paying high-tech jobs. I retired in 2002.
Retirement
For four years, my partner and I cruised aboard my boat Stargazer. We traveled up and down the Eastern Seaboard, crossed the Atlantic Ocean, and cruised Western Europe. We spent our first winter abroad in Gibraltar, an English colony just like New Hampshire used to be before the revolution. Our second winter we spent in London, England.
After returning to the United States, my partner and I chose to settle in Stratham. The friendly neighbors, clean and beautiful environment, and easy access to cultural events made for an easy decision. After our travels we know from direct experience that New Hampshire is the greatest state of the greatest country in the world!
Public Service
Shortly after I moved to Stratham, I offered to serve the Town as a volunteer. The Stratham Board of Selectmen appointed me to the Public Works Commission. I continue to serve today. More recently they have appointed me to represent the Town of Stratham in the Southeast Watershed Alliance. The Alliance is an organization of Coastal Watershed communities working with regional planning commissions, the state, and other stakeholders to more effectively improve the water quality of Great Bay and Hampton Harbour.
The Alliance elected me one of three co-chairmen. As co-chair, I have played a significant role developing the bylaws and operating procedures, as well as hosting their website. Now that the organizational issues are addressed, I am working to help the organization set near term goals.
